Having come from an abusive upbringing, Christina found solace in music. Her grandmother would take her to a local record store and she would listen to musical icons such as Etta James, Nina Simone, Gladys Knight and Aretha Franklin. Her big break came in 1998 when RCA Records signed her to a contract deal after recording the song Reflection for the Disney movie Mulan.
The following year Christina would release her debut album Christina Aguilera launching her into pop star status. After years of self searching she released her second album in 2002 titled Stripped. This album came a new image and sound; solidifying her musical status. Along with a hit album came a new man, Jordan Bratman. Bratman would show Christina a life and love she never knew; marrying in 2002. She wrote about new life on her latest album Christina Aguilera: Back to Basics. In January of 2008 Christina and Jordan welcomed their first child Max. With new inspirations and a decade behind her, Christina Aguilera is currently writing her fourth studio album, releasing later in 2009.
